26.27 ACHS DRESS CODE:

ACHS students are required to follow Aurora Public Schools' established guidelines which states that “student dress that is disruptive to the classroom environment or to the maintenance of a safe and orderly school” will not be allowed.

ACHS students will be able to express themselves through dress and appearance, however the following rules will be strictly enforced:

  • Clothing must cover chest, buttocks, and undergarments.

  • Clothing must not be profane, obscene, lewd, suggestive, libelous, or vulgar.

  • Clothing must not be used to intimidate or threaten any individual or group or disrupt the learning environment.

  • No apparel with gang, drug, alcohol, or inappropriate advertisements, logos, or pictures.

  • Bandanas as apparel and/or accessories may not be worn or displayed at any time.

  • Shoes must be worn at all times in the school. 

ACHS staff reserve the right to determine if any clothing is inappropriate and to ask the student to call home for a change of clothing or loan the student appropriate attire to comply with the dress code. If a student consistently wears inappropriate clothing, other disciplinary consequences will be enforced.

Los estudiantes de ACHS deben seguir las pautas establecidas por las Escuelas Públicas de Aurora que establecen que no se permitirá "vestimenta estudiantil que perturbe el ambiente del aula o el mantenimiento de una escuela segura y ordenada".

Los estudiantes de ACHS podrán expresarse a través de la vestimenta y la apariencia, sin embargo, se aplicarán estrictamente las siguientes reglas:

  • La ropa debe cubrir el pecho, los glúteos y la ropa interior.

  • La ropa no debe contener mensajes, imágenes o lenguaje profano, obsceno, vulgar, sugestivo, difamatorio o inapropiado.

  • La ropa no debe utilizarse para intimidar o amenazar a ninguna persona o grupo, ni para interrumpir el ambiente de aprendizaje.

  • No se permiten camisetas o prendas con anuncios, logotipos o imágenes relacionadas con pandillas, drogas, alcohol o contenido inapropiado.

  • No se permite usar ni exhibir pañuelos (bandanas) como parte de la vestimenta o como accesorios en ningún momento.

  • Los estudiantes deben usar zapatos en todo momento mientras estén en la escuela.

El personal de ACHS se reserva el derecho de determinar si alguna prenda de vestir es inapropiada y de solicitar al estudiante que llame a casa para traer un cambio de ropa o de proporcionarle vestimenta adecuada para cumplir con el código de vestimenta. Si un estudiante usa ropa inapropiada de manera repetida, se aplicarán otras consecuencias disciplinarias según corresponda.

 

 

STUDENT ID POLICY:

For the safety and security of all students, wearing a student ID is mandatory at all times while on school campus and school buses. Students will receive their ID during registration and are also required to wear it when visiting other APS schools. Failure to comply with this policy may result in disciplinary action and/or removal from district property. Replacement cost for a lost ID is $5.00.

  • Parents, please ensure that your child meets student dress and ID requirements each day before sending them to school. Thank you for your help.

ACHS CELL PHONE POLICY:

Districtwide Framework (ECE–12)
APS will implement a grade-level differentiated approach grounded in a shared belief:
Devices should not interfere with learning, safety, or relationships.

Grades 9–12 (High Schools): “Bell-to-Bell”

 
● Devices are off and out of sight during all instructional time
● Applies to classrooms, hallways during instruction, and transitions
● Devices are permitted: Before/after school, during passing periods, at lunch
● Strictly prohibited: Recording audio/video, social media use during the school day, cyberbullying or harassment

 

ACHS Cell Phone Policy:

To maintain a learning environment with minimal distractions and increase opportunities for collaboration, critical thinking, and self-regulation, students are not allowed to use cell phones or devices during the school day. Students are required to keep their electronic devices out of sight during all instructional time. This includes in the classroom, hallways, and bathrooms during scheduled class time. Students are permitted to use their device
before/after school, during passing periods, during off periods only in the Media center, or at lunch in the commons/courtyard. Before disciplinary action, a phone call home with a warning will be given to a student, along with a reteaching of the school cell phone policies/expectations. If students disregard the classroom cell phone policy, the following steps will be taken:

1. Teacher Intervention: If a student violates policy with their device the teacher will provide redirection and one opportunity for student to self correct prior to requesting support from a monitor or dean. Must contact parents/guardians and inform them of the incident.

2. Dean Intervention: If a student violates policy, parents/guardians will be contacted to inform them of the incident.

1st instance: Cell phones or devices will be turned into the front office for the remainder day and can be picked up at the end of day. The Dean will provide reteaching and reset expectations and may keep the cell phone for the duration of the school day.

2nd instance: Cell phone or device will be confiscated, must be picked up by parent/guardian or parent/guardian must give approval to release device to student.

3rd instance: Cell phone or device will be confiscated, must be picked up by parent/guardian or parent/guardian must give approval to release device to student. Device contract/plan will be initiated, the student will no longer be allowed to carry personal devices during school day. Disciplinary action may
be taken (Detention, Saturday school, suspension).

3. The Dean or Administrator intervention: If a student violates policy, parents/guardians will be contacted, and disciplinary action may be taken (Detention, Saturday school, suspension). Phones can be picked up by a parent or guardian from the Principal’s office. Device contract/plan may be initiated; the student may no longer be allowed to carry personal devices during school day.

4. Repeated Violations: Students will no longer be allowed to have a cell phone/personal electronic device on campus. Students will leave all technology at home or turn into a Dean/Administrator until the end of the school day. If this is violated disciplinary action will be taken (Detention, Saturday school, suspension).

Política de Teléfonos Celulares de ACHS:

Con el fin de mantener un ambiente de aprendizaje con mínimas distracciones y aumentar las oportunidades de colaboración, pensamiento crítico y autorregulación, los estudiantes no pueden usar teléfonos celulares o dispositivos durante el día escolar. Los estudiantes deben mantener sus dispositivos electrónicos fuera de la vista durante todo el tiempo de instrucción. Esto incluye el salón de clases, pasillos y baños durante el horario de clase programado. Se permite el uso del dispositivo antes y después de la escuela, durante los cambios de clase, durante períodos libres únicamente en el Centro de Medios (Media Center), o durante el almuerzo en la cafetería/patio. Antes de tomar una medida disciplinaria, se dará una llamada a casa con una advertencia al estudiante, junto con una reenseñanza de las políticas y expectativas sobre el uso de teléfonos celulares. Si los estudiantes no cumplen con la política de uso de celulares en el aula, se seguirán los siguientes pasos:

1. Intervención del Maestro: Si un estudiante incumple la política sobre el uso de dispositivos electrónicos, el maestro le dará una advertencia y una oportunidad para corregir su comportamiento antes de solicitar apoyo de un
monitor o del decano. El maestro deberá comunicarse con los padres/tutores para informarles sobre el incidente.

2. Intervención del Decano: Si un estudiante incumple la política, se contactará a los padres/tutores para informarles sobre el incidente.

Se implementará un contrato o plan de uso de dispositivos, y el estudiante ya no podrá portar dispositivos electrónicos personales durante el día escolar. Además, podrán aplicarse medidas disciplinarias (detención, escuela de sábado o suspensión).

3. Intervención del Decano o Administrador: Si un estudiante incumple la política, se contactará a los padres o tutores para informarles del incidente y podrán aplicarse medidas disciplinarias (detención, escuela de sábado o suspensión). Los teléfonos podrán ser recogidos por el padre, madre o tutor en la oficina del director. También podrá implementarse un contrato o plan de uso de dispositivos, y el estudiante podría perder el privilegio de portar dispositivos electrónicos personales durante el día escolar.

4. Infracciones repetidas: El estudiante ya no podrá tener un teléfono celular ni ningún dispositivo electrónico personal en el campus. Deberá dejar todos los dispositivos en casa o entregarlos a un decano o administrador al inicio del día escolar para recuperarlos al finalizar la jornada. Si esta medida es incumplida, se aplicarán consecuencias disciplinarias, incluyendo detención, escuela de sábado o suspensión.

 

 

 

Online Student Check-In and Changes to Technology Contracts for 2026-27

Looking ahead, we want to remind you to check in your returning students beginning June 1st so they are ready for the 2026-27 school year. With the APS Annual Online Student Check-in System! in Parent Portal, you can check in your child for school and update or confirm your address, phone numbers, emergency contacts, health information, preferred language and more.

We also need to share an important change to our technology contracts. Now that remote learning at most schools has ended and additional federal funding for devices is no longer available, schools will again begin charging families for any damages incurred to district devices. Starting in the 2024-25 school year, families will now fill out a Student Technology Contract as part of Student Check-In. Please note that the first incident of damage or loss will no longer be free.  If loss or damage to the equipment/property occurs and determination is made that the loss or damage is a result of negligence, the borrower may be held financially responsible for the repair or replacement of the item(s). ($330 Chromebook, $19.95 AC adapter/charger, $17.95 Case).  The borrower will be responsible for returning the ChromeBook and all accessories in like condition at the end of each school year, or at the time of withdrawal from the school. (i.e. ChromeBook, charging cable, and case). Failure to do so will result in assessed fees.
